Director’s Special Message

Welcome to the School of Music’s Fall Semester at Florida International University!

As a dynamic and forward-thinking School, we seek to create an inclusive learning environment where we cultivate community and a wide variety of unique student experiences. Our small class sizes led by award-winning artist-faculty ensure that the focus is always on you and your personal and professional development.

We remain committed to your success and health and will continue to provide you with a safe space in which you can continue to grow and learn as musicians, educators, students, peers, and humanitarians.

Please be assured that we are monitoring the Covid-19 situation closely, but we will continue to provide you with opportunities to meet and network with internationally recognized guest artists and scholars through master classes, lectures, and special performances. We haven’t missed a beat! Together, we will collaborate, inspire, discover, reflect, mentor, innovate, and create.

As part of our commitment to you, we encourage all students, faculty, and staff to receive the COVID-19 vaccine as the best way to protect themselves and other members of the Panther community.

Please remember to register with the Panther Protecting Panthers App before coming onto campus. Please seek clarification and guidance from your professor early on in the semester if you have any questions or concerns.

We hope that all of you will feel connected to and supported by your School of Music and University. We are here for you!

In the meantime, please invest the time to learn more about us as you explore our website, listen to our streamed and recorded concerts, and view our concert calendar for our annual favorites! Welcome Music Panther to the 2021-2022 academic year!

Sincerely,

Karen S. Fuller Veloz
