The FIU Jazz Vocal Ensemble, led by Lisanne Lyons, will perform music from the Wizard of Oz, sambas, swing, gospel, contemporary, a cappella and beautiful ballads. The group consists of twelve to fifteen vocalists and a four-piece rhythm section that often emphasizes close harmonies, improvisation, cutting-edge repertoire, and new works by students and FIU faculty. They have also been known to perform music from the library of Manhattan Transfer, New York Voices, Swingle Singers, Groove for Thought, and original arrangements written by some of the finest jazz arrangers in the country.
