Dr. Pouranfar is a board-certified music therapist who earned her doctorate from Florida State University in 2024 and holds a Master of Arts in music therapy from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Music in music therapy from the University of Louisville.
Clinically, Dr. Pouranfar has worked with diverse populations across medical and community settings, including behavioral health, substance use recovery, neurorehabilitation, and neonatal intensive care. Her private practice experience includes supporting older adults in memory care, children with disabilities, and children and families involved in foster care. Her research focuses on music therapy interventions for individuals with substance use disorders and family involvement in music therapy.
In addition to her clinical and scholarly work, Dr. Pouranfar is an active advocate for the profession, serving on committees within the Southeastern Region of the American Music Therapy Association and the Florida Music Therapy Task Force.
