Clarinetist Richard A. Zogaib has built a distinguished career as a performer, educator, and conductor. A graduate of the Armed Forces School of Music and VanderCook College of Music, he served with distinction as a musician in the United States Marine Corps. While a member of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in Washington, D.C., Staff Sergeant Zogaib performed with the Clarinet Choir and Band at numerous ceremonial events, including at the White House, and served in the music library.
An accomplished recorder player, he made history in 1995 by introducing the Alto Recorder to a performance of Handel’s Sonata in A Minor, marking the first reported use of the Flûte à Bec in a concert by “The President’s Own” since its founding in 1798.
Mr. Zogaib has served as Principal Clarinetist and Assistant Conductor of the Pan-American Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C., and has performed with the Miami Bach Society and other renowned ensembles under celebrated conductors. He is an active member of the Florida Music Education Association, Florida Bandmasters Association, and an Honorary Member of Kappa Kappa Psi.
As an educator, Mr. Zogaib is a sought-after clarinet and classical saxophone clinician in South Florida. His private students have earned significant talent scholarships to prestigious institutions, including the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Eastman School of Music. He currently directs the FIU Interscholastic Clarinet Choir, Les Art Nouveau Chalumeaux.
