Celebrate 25 years of cutting-edge contemporary, classical music with us!

The New Music Miami ISCM Festival brings vibrancy and innovation to the community through concerts and transformative masterclasses and forums throughout South Florida. This year, the festival runs from January 2021 through April 2021 at The Woflsonian-FIU and includes the presentation of music by composers from around the world, many of whom are present to discuss their music for FIU students and audiences.

Audiences are invited to the pre-concert discussion of works at 7:00 pm, followed by a performance at 7:30pm. The festival discussions and concerts are free to the public thanks to the generosity of our sponsors. Cash bar is available.

MIRANDA CUCKSON, VIOLA

The 25th season of the New Music Miami ISCM Festival opens with virtuoso violinist Miranda Cuckson performing works by a diverse group of composers from the US and abroad. She delights listeners internationally with her versatile and expressive playing of a wide range of music, from older eras to the most current creations. She has become one of the most acclaimed and passionately committed performers of contemporary music, playing innumerable concerts and premieres of new works and moving new creations more into the center of classical music life.

COMPOSER CHINARY UNG, AMERNET STRING QUARTET & FIU NODUS ENSEMBLE

FIU’S Ensemble-in-Residence the acclaimed Amernet String Quartet and the FIU NODUS Ensemble perform the works of Grawemeyer award-winning composer Dr. Chinary Ung. Dr. Ung was the first American composer to win the highly coveted and international Grawemeyer Award for (Inner Voices, 1989), sometimes called the Nobel Prize for music composition.
