A Practicum and Live Web-Building Workshop for Creative Entrepreneurs and Small Businesses

11 AM Friday 13 February 2026

RA+DI Research Associate and co-founding faculty Dimitry Saïd Chamy @2urn_ offers a practicum on building a web presence that is clear, intentional, and sustainable. The emphasis is on practical decision-making: cost control, technical simplicity, durable data structures, and realistic maintenance over time. Participants learn how to design sites that set correct user expectations, support real use cases, and function as a stable point of reference and intellectual property ownership amid shifting social platforms.

Rather than treating a website as a promotional add-on, the workshop frames it as the central hub of your online presence: a place you control, where content is structured, searchable, and reusable across platforms. Participants leave with clearer criteria for choosing tools, a better understanding of long-term implications, and a working foundation they can extend without unnecessary complexity.

Chamy walks through the tools, platforms, pricing models, and technical tradeoffs involved in planning, building, and maintaining a website. The workshop outlines, AI, low- and no-code options for online CVs, portfolios, informational sites, blogs, podcasts, and digital or physical commerce. Attention is given to information architecture, accessibility, copyright, privacy, and basic legal compliance, with a focus on what is required versus what is optional.

About

Dimitry Saïd Chamy is a transdisciplinary artist, designer, and cultural producer. He works with hybrid generative systems using collaboration, creativity, and play to evoke what is lost, examine the present, and explore the possible—grounded in his diasporic journey as a queer Haitian-Lebanese immigrant and his love of nature, science, and storytelling.

Chamy has been awarded grants from Miami-Dade County, received an Oolite Arts Creator award, and exhibited at Locust Projects in Miami, where he was also awarded a teaching residency. He’s shown at Beijing Design Week, New York Fashion Week, the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, and in film festivals globally. In 2022, he was an assistant curator and producer of The BluPrnt Show, curated by Robert Chambers with 395 artists spanning a 120+ year cross-section of Miami art, which The New York Times featured as expressive of the city’s historical significance as a global art center.

Chamy holds an MFA from Yale in graphic design and has taught at six universities and served as an Erasmus+ Scholar and Honorary Chair at the Art Academy, Riga, Latvia. He is a Co-Founder, Research Associate, and Resident Artist and Designer at the Ratcliffe Art & Design Incubator at Florida International University in Miami, Florida, where he bases his studio.
