FIU Theatre alumna Tatiana Pandiani was selected for a prestigious National Directors Fellowship. The fellowship is awarded jointly by the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, National New Play Network, Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation.
“I am very grateful for this opportunity to continue exploring new play development,” says Pandiani. “This kind of program gives directors access to playwrights and producers creating all sorts of work all over the country.”
The program is 18 months of hands-on, practical experience. It connects early-career directors to a vast network of new writers, expands access to professional support services, and provides laboratory-like environments for observation and experimentation, equipping tomorrow’s stage directors with the skills, knowledge, and network to advance new play development and production around the country.
The fellowship culminates with a professional directing post within the wide-ranging network of National New Play Network Member Theaters.
“I’m excited to meet new people outside of my current network, beyond New York and into other areas of the country where bilingual work is happening or is wanted,” says Pandiani. “So many of us live bilingual lives in the states, so I am excited to be part of the generation and genesis of new plays and new musicals that reflect that experience.”
