Dance Magazine, a national dance publication for over 90 years, has named FIU’s Pioneer Winter one of their 25 to Watch in 2019.
Their annual list features dancers, choreographers, and companies that are on the verge of skyrocketing.
Winter is an adjunct instructor in FIU’s Department of Theatre and the Honors College and is the Dance Minor Coordinator.
“With technical rigor and unflinching rapport, director Pioneer Winter and his collaborators skillfully tackle topics concerning people of varied physical ability, body type, gender identity and sexual orientation,” writes the magazine. “Every project champions the striving for personal authenticity, for in life as in art, Winter insists, ‘being truly human can be the hardest part.’”
