During the week of February 3rd-7th, CARTA alumni from across all 8 departments visited the classrooms to participate in FIU’s seventh annual Panther Alumni Week (PAW).
PAW is held annually at both the MMC and BBC campuses during the first week in February. CARTA invited its graduates to return as guest speakers in classes in order to share their past working experiences, inspire students, and share valuable insight into their careers.
CARTA welcomed a great variety of alumni who have elevated themselves within their fields after graduating from their various majors. The week saw professionals from all areas take over undergraduate and graduate class sessions, exhibitions, and panel discussions, including the likes of Roshanna Gosoff and Gabriela Lambertus from Wells Fargo (Communication), former TV Producer Kandra Velez (Journalism+Media), Angel Suarez of Perkins+Will (Architecture), and Eduardo Lacayo from Miami-Dade Public Schools (Art+Art History).
CARTA News was able to connect Melanie Rodriguez, Junior Special Events Manager here at FIU and CARTA alum, where she shared why she loves Panther Alumni Week:
“I believe events like Panther Alumni Week are valuable for students because it provides them with opportunities to network and connect with FIU alumni who have been in their same shoes. Alumni can help guide and provide a sense of direction for students who are close to graduation and also be a great contact for internship or job opportunities.”
All the alumni truly inspired CARTA students and had the same underlying message of staying true to oneself, taking big chances, and ensuring that you stand out amongst the crowd.
