As the start of the fall term approaches, the university has implemented new procedures and guidelines to keep Panthers safe. Read on to learn about the student-specific updates coming to FIU and the College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts this fall.
Panthers Protecting Panthers
Panthers Protecting Panthers is FIU’s repopulation plan for Fall 2020. It is meant to promote personal and shared responsibility to keep our community safe and healthy.
Additionally, all students are required to complete the Panthers Protecting Panthers Training Course, regardless of course modality. The course may be accessed via FIU Develop (if needed, click here for login instructions) and must be completed no later than Sunday, August 23rd.
Visiting campus:
Anyone who wishes to come on campus – faculty, staff, students and vendors – must observe social distancing and wear a face covering at all times. These measures are crucial to help prevent the spread of the virus.
Panthers Protecting Panthers (P3) App:
All employees, students and visitors are required to check into the Panthers Protecting Panthers (P3) app each time they come to the campus (e.g., for class, work, labs, library, Rec Center). The P3 app will be launching the week prior to classes beginning.
- [Note: On-campus residents will be required to check in on the app every morning.]
Student guidelines for repopulation:
In adherence to CDC Guidelines for health & safety and the FIU Student Conduct and Honor Code, the following protocols must be followed by the entire FIU community:
- Complete the Panthers Protecting Panthers Training course by August 23rd
- Check into the P3 App each day if coming to campus
- Wear a face covering at all times
- Maintain physical distancing of at least six feet
- Maintain classroom and work areas clean using products provided and/or recommended by the university
- Refrain from using others’ work and personal equipment (e.g., phones, computers, pens).

These guidelines have been developed after thoroughly reviewing all CDC, federal and state mandates, and most importantly, with the health and safety of our university community in mind – inclusive of student responsibilities and compliance regulations. We strongly encourage reviewing the document prior to the start of the semester.
