U.S. News & World Report’s Travel section is seeking a full-time Digital Producer. U.S. News empowers everyone to thrive. In this position you will have the opportunity to leverage your strengths and skills as a Digital Producer for our consumer-oriented travel site, travel.usnews.com.
The Digital Producer’s primary responsibility is bringing our articles to life. This is an essential role with duties that include finding eye-catching photos, building articles and slideshows, organizing article layouts, uploading content and strategically linking throughout the site. This candidate will focus on publishing consumer-oriented content on a variety of travel topics, including vacation ideas, hotels and resorts, cruises, travel products, top things to do in popular destinations and more. The ideal candidate will be a proven problem solver who can juggle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced media environment. You should also be comfortable with content management systems and working closely with a small team. There may be some opportunities to write content, pitch new ideas and assist the product team in the overall improvement of the site.
This is a full-time, entry-level position based in our Washington, D.C., office. This position is also open to remote workers. Note: No travel will be involved as part of this position.

As part of the job, you’ll:
- Upload and style editorial content within our content management system (the CMS)
- Produce and publish 1-2 Travel articles and slideshows per day
- Source, select, upload and edit photos with appropriate licenses; write captions for photos in select cases
- Update content on Travel pages
- Keep publication calendar organized and record once pieces have been published
- Insert related links and backlinks from stories across other content throughout the Travel site
- Work ahead on photo collection and production responsibilities to keep content moving efficiently through the production and publication process
- Communicate with editors to improve the accuracy of online content
- QA pages before publication
- Suggest and test CMS features and improvements
- Answer questions from team members about technical issues
- Pitch in with problems or special requests from team members
- Prepare content and page components in advance of project launches
- Other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
You should definitely have:
- An interest in and/or familiarity with the travel and hospitality industries
- A background that includes digital publication, journalism, online media or content strategy
- Basic web production skills and experience publishing with a CMS
- A keen eye for detail and ability to adapt to new assignments and processes
- The ability to meet deadlines and handle several tasks simultaneously from internal co-workers and external partners
- Exemplary communication, critical thinking and organization skills
- An eye for selecting engaging, appropriate photos to accompany our content
- Basic knowledge in HTML/CSS
- 1-2 years of web production or related experience
- College degree or equivalent experience
