Responsible for resolution of all activity on assigned features identified as potential Total Losses. Trains to confirm coverage, verify coverage limits, and review the estimate and Total Loss Evaluation. Learns to control associated claims for Rental as well as any other expenses associated with the assigned feature. Concludes all assigned claims in a timely and cost-effective manner based on Company guidelines.
Since this is an entry-level position, work with minimal authority under direct supervision.
Position Responsibilities:
- Attends and successfully completes FNOL portion of Basic Claims School and other assigned training within the first 30 days.
- Participates in and completes other selected self-study courses and other training designed for this position during a defined period of time usually not to exceed 90 days.
- The Total Loss Specialist Trainee must maintain a passing average in all formal courses that have been developed for the individual. An acceptable level of competencies pertaining to the position must be maintained. Formal Performance Evaluations must result in a “Meets Expectations” or higher rating.
- Must prepare for, obtain and maintain State Licensing for states which require a license.
Position Qualifications:
- 1 year of full time work experience in a position requiring the use of analytical, customer service and attention to detail skills.
- Must have good computer skills.
- Must have good planning and organizational skills and must be a self starter.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bi-lingual English/Spanish skills are preferred and may be required for some positions.
- Must have the ability to deal with demanding customers in a professional manner.
- Must learn to deal with agents, insured, claimants, attorneys and others with tact and diplomacy.
- This job requires a high level of tolerance.
- Must work effectively amid constant interruptions.
- Must be well organized, be self disciplined and have the ability to handle fluctuating workload based on claims volume. Overtime is often required.
- Learns to make decisions quickly with little direct supervision. Decisions made have a considerable human and financial consequence for the Company and for customers.
