Great Garden Plants, Inc. is currently seeking candidates to join our marketing team! We are looking for a creative writer and marketer to join our team as an e-newsletter specialist. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, writing, and sending e-newsletters and SMS marketing to our e-commerce customers all year. It’s a great opportunity to turn your writing and analytical skills into actual sales, and watch the needle move every day. The ideal person for this position loves writing and content creation, uses data to make decisions about newsletter content, segmentation, and distribution, wants to share their love of plants and gardening with the world, and works well as part of a team.

 Due to the collaborative nature of this job and the importance of deriving inspiration from our products growing in our greenhouses, remote work is not possible.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Write and publish e-newsletters + SMS marketing for our e-commerce businesses
  • Create engaging, sales-driving, service-oriented e-newsletters to support traffic to our e-commerce sites
  • Work with the Operations Manager to plan sales and push product that needs to be sold
  • Collaborate with Design and Web Design Specialists on best layout and creative for e-newsletters
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize newsletter flows: onboarding, post-purchase, out of stock alerts, etc.
  • Work with the Digital Marketing Specialist to grow subscriber list by both paid and organic means
  • Maintain good list hygiene
  • Write other e-newsletters as requested by Marketing Manager
  • Create and develop content to increase sales and reinforce our brands
  • Re-purpose e-newsletter content as articles and blog entries to maximize efforts and organic search performance
  • Develop and edit plant descriptions, as well as new articles, blog entries, etc. to educate customers and potential customers, as well as improve organic search performance
  • Work with designer and videographer to create unique + informative visual content
  • Assist Marketing Manager in day-to-day operations and growth strategy
  • Support the marketing efforts with writing, editing, public speaking, product information, events and other assistance as needed.
  • Manage reviews for e-commerce sites and products
  • Develop and optimize automated review requests
  • Monitor and approve reviews as they come in
  • Respond to reviews as necessary
  • Communicate insights and information learned from reviews to the appropriate team member so we can continue to improve based on customer feedback
  • Assist with questions from home gardeners
  • Answer consumer questions and replies to e-newsletters
  • Create content that answers the most frequently asked questions to lighten daily workload

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Follow Spring Meadow Nursery, Inc. Safety Policy.

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Education – 4 yr. horticulture or related degree or experience in gardening/horticulture, and three to five in journalism, sales, and/or marketing. Writing, organizational, interpersonal, and computer skills.

 

Performance Requirements:

  • Must maintain a level of performance equivalent to company standards, that being a “Meets Expectations” in all areas of your performance evaluations (Self and Management reviews).

Job Type: Full time salary

Pay: starting at $40,000 per year, dependent upon experience. Amount is not inclusive of total compensation package.
