GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Planner with 1 to 3 years of experience within our Urban Planning and Land Use Entitlements practice to work out of our Orlando, Florida office. Our Planning team collaborates with all aspects of our Community Solutions Group service group and other departments at GAI Consultants. Our planning practice works with public, private, and institutional clients to assist with Land Use Entitlements and Regulatory Planning, Urban Design and Redevelopment, and Community Visioning. This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.
The specific duties of this position are focused on Land Use and Zoning Approvals (including Planned Use Development Areas), Comprehensive Planning, and Regulatory Planning. This includes (i) preparing land use or plan permit submittal documents, (ii) performing GIS analysis and mapping in support of a wide variety of growth management-related studies (iii) Assembling and organizing site due to diligence information into report form (iv) working with our project teams to prepare reports and presentations that convey key findings and (v) participation with client coordination and project meetings. Secondary duties include participation within our practice of urban and regional planning which may include larger-scale reviews of land use patterns, urban analytics, and socio-economic data to inform and participate in broader policy recommendations. Traveling within central Florida to project sites is required (up to 15%).

Qualifications
Education
Required
- Bachelors or better in Urban Planning or related field.
Experience
Required
1-3 years: Related experience.
- Functional experience with regulatory interfaces such as Muni-Code.
- Functional experience with Microsoft Office and ArcGIS.
Preferred
- Experience working within a City/County planning department is considered a plus.
