Help develop and implement PR and social media strategies at Wolf Trap performances and events by writing and assisting with the distribution of press releases, coordinating press attendance, media coverage tracking, crafting pitches, working with local media, artist’s publicists, assisting with social media, and more.
- Respond to queries from both press and public to achieve productive coverage
- Assist with upkeep of a variety of Wolf Trap digital communication tools
- Work with internal staff for event communication support and outreach
- Populate online event and social media sites with Wolf Trap performance detail
- Work with managers to provide support for the Foundation’s social media efforts, including assisting in the preparation of content on social media sites
- Craft promotional articles, artist biographies, media alerts, etc. and help to maintain supporting documents and talent contacts
- Pull weekly social media metrics
- Proofread and edit copy
Requirements
- Strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to work well across different talent communities and teams
- Public Relations, Journalism, or Arts Administration majors/backgrounds preferred
- Experience with digital communication tools, including media tracking tools (such as Cision)
- Passion for social networking and familiarity with relevant online portals
- Familiarity with the local press and related print, broadcast, and online news outlets
Expected Duration: 12 weeks
Pay rate: $12/hour
This is a hybrid position (in-person and remote work). Applicants must be local to the DC metro area for the duration of their internship assignment to attend select in-person meetings and/or events.
Wolf Trap Foundation is monitoring and adhering to current federal and state guidelines for COVID workplace safety to protect staff, artists, and patrons.
