Chair’s Special Message

Dear FIU Theatre Family,

Happy new year and welcome back to our Spring 2024 semester at FIU Theatre! I hope you had a wonderful winter break and celebrated the holidays with your loved ones. Now it is time to dive back into our work with a renewed sense of purpose and excitement.

This is shaping up to be a wonderful semester full of opportunities for growth both in the classroom and in our productions. I challenge you to make the most of these opportunities as you continue to develop into the dynamic theatre artists of tomorrow.

This semester also promises to be one of the most important in our 50 years of theatre production. In February, we officially launch our new BFA in Musical Theatre program to the public with the opening of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, the gritty, funny, and full-of-heart musical based on Pedro Almodóvar’s internationally acclaimed film.

Our 50th season culminates with the Pulitzer and Tony Award winning play, Clybourne Park, an imaginative satire on race, identity, and gentrification.

Please make sure you join us for the mandatory Majors Meeting on Friday, January 12th at 3:30pm in our Mainstage Theatre. You will hear a lot of important information at this meeting and have an opportunity to connect with your fellow students and faculty. See you there!

I look forward to seeing you soon, and if there is anything I can help you with, please do not hesitate to stop by the theatre office.

Let’s have a wonderful semester!
