Moderated by RA+DI Podcast Producer and Co-host Maggie Salas-Amaro.

About our Speakers

Constance Jones

Constance Jones is a two-time Emmy® nominated journalist who currently anchors the station’s weekday morning newscasts, NBC6 News Today at 5am and 6am, alongside NBC6 anchor Kris Anderson, from the station’s Miramar-based studios. After anchoring at WRIC-TV in Richmond, VA for almost three years, Jones joined NBC6 in February of 2021.

Jones has worked in several television markets, including New York City, Miami, Oklahoma City and Atlanta. She returned home to Miami, where she previously spent nine years as an anchor and reporter at local station WPLG-TV, and also worked at WLRN National Public Radio in South Florida. Jones also worked with veteran news journalist Dan Rather at the CBS Evening News.

Tamoa Calzadilla

As editor in chief for Factchequeado, Tamoa is responsible for the production of original content at Factchequeado, as well as the exploration and implementation of creative approaches to better serve the U.S. Spanish-speaking community. Former Director of elDetector, Univision Noticias fact-checking platform. She has led live digital-TV fact-checking coverage, and alliances with other media, organizations and universities to combat disinformation that mainly affects latinos. Pulitzer Prize Finalist for the collaborative work #FinCenfiles (2021) on corrupt Venezuelan politicians and international banking acting as leader for the the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ). She was also part of the investigative team of the Panama Papers (ICIJ, 2016). She has been appointed Honoris Causa María Moors Cabot from Columbia University, and distinguished with the Gabriel García Márquez Honors and IPYS AWARD for Best Research, together with the team she led in Venezuela, in 2014. She’s also winner of the Ipys/Transparency International award for best coverage of corruption in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Valentina Di Liscia

Valentina Di Liscia is the News Editor at Hyperallergic. Originally from Argentina, she studied at the University of Chicago and is currently working on her MA at Hunter College, where she received the Brodsky Scholarship for Latin American Art History.

Maggie Salas-Amaro is an award-winning producer and media executive. During her media career, she has worked for some of the world’s most successful brands including Viacom, The Walt Disney Company, NBC Universal, FOX, Hola! TV and Univision. Currently, she produces and co-hosts the podcast “Tech Conversations “created by the Ratcliffe Art + Design Incubator at Florida International University. Salas-Amaro currently leads Canela Kids part of Canela Media the first AVOD for Hispanics in the US and Latin America. In 2023, she was recognized by Cynopsis Media as a Top Women in Media, and by the Worldwide Women’s Audiovisual Association (WAWA), as an honorary member for her 30 years of career in media.
