Additive Manufacturing for Nautical Design
This project investigates new methods for large-scale additive manufacturing by developing multi-bias toolpath generation techniques and testing them on a variety of topological surfaces typically found in small marine vessels. A discussion of contemporary additive manufacturing technology includes a comprehensive review of 3D printing applications in the marine industry sector. The project proposes several methods for automating manufacturing for large objects using a variety of different kinematic systems and material extrusion devices that can reduce harmful impacts on the environment while improving worker safety.
