Project: Bio-Tile: Performance-Based Infrastructure
This project is searching for a solution to protect coastal areas from the impacts of climate change, including rising sea levels, extensive coastal erosion, and depopulation of marine species. The Bio-Tiles project is a performance-based hybrid landscape infrastructure that will collect sediment, filter stormwater runoff, reduce coastal surface temperature, and promote biodiversity in addition to preventing coastal erosion. The project is a nature-based approach for designing the bio-tiles, a protective modular tile system to create resilient shorelines using digital technology, sustainable material, and innovative manufacturing techniques.
