Miss You!, Wish You Were Here
It is with great pleasure that we welcome the exhibition Miss You, Wish You Were Here at Miami Beach Urban Studios. These exceptional artists have come together for their last exhibition as MFA graduate classmates. For the last three years these eight artists have studied aesthetic theory, attended lectures, collaborated, competed, endured critiques and exhibited together—and yes partied together too.
Their works are as unique and diverse as the artists themselves and range from sculpture to painting, from photography to printmaking, from assemblage to filmmaking, and from soundscapes to conceptual. In this exhibition the multi-discipline works reference the environment, identity, culture, memory, time, love and relationships.
This transformational journey hasn’t always been easy; there have been bumps in the road, the occasional zig zag, and u-turn. But during this time the artists have investigated new mediums, techniques, and ideas; they have experimented, pushed boundaries and evolved.
This group of artists has exhibited together at the Bakehouse Art Complex, the Laundromat Art Space and the Frost Museum. The artists would like to take this opportunity to thank Professors Alpesh Kantilal Patel, Jacek J. Kolasinski, John Stuart, Pip Brant, Robert Chambers and William Burke for guidance, patience and sometimes-tough love.
