Luis Pacheco

Luis Pacheco is a Robotics and Digital Fabrication Research Specialist in the School of Architecture and the Robotics and Digital Fabrication (RDF lab) at Florida International University. As an experienced researcher in digital manufacturing, computational design, and architectural robotics, his research focuses on innovative workflows with additive manufacturing in construction and robot control interfaces.

He is a co-founder and former CEO of MakerMex, which stands as Mexico’s inaugural 3D printer manufacturing firm. In this position, he led a diverse team in the development of 3D printers, laser cutters, and bespoke robotic systems. Before relocating to the US, he also played a foundational role in initiating projects such as MakerLab Leon and MakerScad. His innovations earned him recognition as one of Mexico’s MIT Innovators under 35 in 2016.

He holds a master's degree in Robotics and Advanced Construction from IAAC in Barcelona and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Universidad de La Salle Bajio in Mexico.
