The Story
Above: Dean Brian Schriner and Moishe Mana, 2016
In late 2016, with the announcement of a new FIU CARTA space for immersive learning in Wynwood, the partnership between FIU CARTA and Moise Mana took shape. Made possible by a substantial charitable contribution from Mana Contemporary.
Mr. Mana was also enthusiastic about the potential of FIU CARTA and Mana Wynwood. He expected the new facility to nurture “Miami’s cultural scene through quality and innovation…become Miami’s hub for the arts and culture, and to continue to bring international recognition to the city and the Wynwood Arts District. We see this investment as the start of a mutually beneficial collaboration that will bring in more partners from around the world. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that Miami and the Wynwood Arts District remain globally relevant in the contemporary world of artistic and creative visionaries.”
FIU CARTA Dean Brian Schriner envisioned this amazing opportunity as “a win-win for CARTA and Mana Contemporary. Not only do our students benefit from this exceptional opportunity to be immersed in Wynwood, but the local community will also be enriched by the innovation and creativity that emerges as a direct result of this historic partnership.”
Guided by an unwavering commitment to immersive and engaged learning opportunities for CARTA students and faculty, Dean Schriner led the effort to shape the original energy and vision of FIU CARTA | Mana Wynwood into the reality that opened in Fall 2021.
