Katherine Coffey is a senior at Rowan University pursuing a degree in International Studies with a concentration in Business & Economics. Upon graduating, she will also be receiving a minor in Communication Studies, as well as a Certificate of Undergraduate Studies in French Language. Coffey chose to pursue her degree for a number of reasons, primarily her interest in different cultures and areas of the world, and also to build her understanding of others’ experiences outside of her own. After she graduates in May, she hopes to fulfill her interests in worldliness and culture, as well as to be able to be an advocate for those who are underrepresented in our society and across the globe.

Coffey has been highly invested in her course work since the beginning of her degree and has extensively studied many of her other interests, including the environment, politics, and womens’ rights. Her most notable classes during her college experience include, but are not limited to, Earth, People, & the Environment, Communicating Gender, Communication Theory, & International Relations. Outside of school, Katherine is passionate about music, photography, and the history of her local community; recently, she combined her love of her community and her fascination with the past in order to research the unfortunate history of redlining and discrimination in her neighboring town of Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Following the completion of her degree, Katherine hopes to pursue a career of advocacy. Whether that be through law school, journalism, or none of the above, Coffey knows that whichever way her path leads, it will involve helping others, in one way or another. Given her love for travel, she also hopes to be able to work and live abroad, as well.
