Each summer, the Women Faculty Moving Forward Workshop is organized for assistant professors who want to move ahead and be successful in the academy. This workshop is in conjunction with the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication conventions. Currently, more than 200 Kopenhaver Center Fellows from nearly as many universities nationally and internationally have completed these workshops. This program represents more than 150 colleges and universities nationally and globally.

The Women Faculty Moving Forward program is designed to help faculty members move forward in their careers through mentoring, networking, and preparing for tenure and/or administration or other leadership positions. In addition to the training and networking at this workshop, participants who are selected will be invited to participate in activities of both the Commission on the Status of Women within AEJMC and the Kopenhaver Center at Florida International University during the year and receive publications of both groups.
