Professor | Frank W. and Sue Mayborn School of Journalism – University of North Texas

A visionary educator and accomplished executive with 25+ years of experience in a major media company coupled with working in higher education and developing students for the ever-changing world of media, from print to digital.  As the former Dean at the University of Texas, she was responsible for overseeing a multimillion-dollar school budget with 1,200+ students, 30+ faculty/staff in the fifth largest media market in the nation. Both undergraduate and graduate programs are accredited by the Accrediting Council for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications.  Led team effort to launch an online master’s degree in digital communication analytics as well as expanding online courses covering topics ranging from media literacy to strategic social media.  Oversees student media outlets including NT Daily in print/online and TV, Mayborn magazine, Denton Live and Denton Public Access TV channel.

Leadership experiences include demonstrated skillsets for organizational communication, strategic planning, fundraising, motivating staff and execution of operational plans within the university as well with the nation’s largest news and information company, Gannett.
