Maria Leon

IIDA FIU SC Board Member & Secretary| NEWH Student member

Maria Leon was born in Lima, Peru. She grew up living in many places around the world. Her family moved to Colombia when she was 9 years old, then to Rwanda, Myanmar, and finally decided to return to Peru where she finished high school. Maria will be graduating this Spring 2021 with a Master’s degree in Interior Architecture and a Certificate in Cruise Ship and Yacht Design.

She was awarded multiple scholarships by the department of Architecture and other design associations for her design skills. Maria is the secretary of the IIDA chapter at FIU which put her organizational and planning skills to the test.

She is also a professor’s assistant and a mentor to undergraduate students. She was nominated by the department of architecture to attend the Kopenhaver Center Leadership Boot Camp to build on her leadership skills. After 5 years she is ready to take on the professional world and is always eager to learn more. She looks forward to applying her degree to help those around her.
