Jeff Kleinmann

Jeff Kleinman is the day editor of the Miami Herald, where he oversees breaking and trending news coverage. He also helps manage the newsroom’s digital platforms and the daily smart speaker audiocast.

Kleinman, a graduate of Florida International University, started at the Miami Herald as a college reporting intern and went on to cover Miami’s local government, transportation, crime, the Florida Keys and Palm Beach County as a staff reporter. He was an assignment editor in Broward County and managed the Miami night editing/design team for 10 years before becoming day editor in 2011.

Kleinman now oversees the real-time team and coverage of the Florida Keys and helps manage and train the newsroom’s college interns.  He was a member of the Miami Herald’s digital innovation team and has taught writing and editing classes and workshops at Florida International University, the University of Miami and Florida Gulf Coast University. Kleinman lives in Hollywood with his wife, Beth, a middle school teacher, and has two college daughters.
