Daniela Jaramillo is a senior at Florida International University soon to graduate with a Bachelor’s in Communications with a track in Broadcast Media and an area of concentration in Photography.

She is an immigrant from Ecuador and throughout her studies, she has held different leadership positions. In high school, she was president of the journalism club and oversaw a team in charge of the school’s magazine, newspaper, and radio station. She was also the treasurer of People to People, a nonprofit organization that serves the community. After graduating, she received the Best Citizen award which is a scholarship given to one student that is chosen among students and teachers to honor on the day of graduation for being a friend, leader, and person of service. This is the accomplishment she is most proud of.

She approaches leadership with an empathic approach. She believes that servant leadership is her calling so listening to others’ needs and serving her team is her priority. She also believes that vision and strategy are essential values for effective leadership.

Daniela is a reporter for the South Florida Media Network based in Washington DC. She creates video packages and writes summaries of different events. She is passionate about arts, culture, and environmental sustainability. She calls herself a storyteller and her favorite ways to tell stories are through videos and photography. As an aspiring TV producer and documentary filmmaker, she wants to be able to tell stories in a socially responsible way.
