Training and Workshops
We provide a range of educational, coaching, training activities for both students and professionals, as well as STEM summer innovation camps for middle and high school students. These include formal training sessions, seminars, and workshops in the following areas:
Attendees will learn the full suite of robotics operations for scalable production. The training provides the skills required for range of robotic applications including architectural assembly, construction, industrial scale printing, painting, “pick and place” for packaging, welding, and CNC milling.
This training provides necessary skills and knowledge of software and tools for students and professionals in architecture, engineering, and construction industries to translate their ideas into 2D and 3D forms. Attendees will learn how to use CNC milling machine, 3D printers, laser cutters, and CAM based equipment to create physical objects.
Workshops on small robotics are focused on how to use Arduino micro-controllers and Raspberry Pi general purpose small computers. Arduino workshop attendees will learn how to build interactive devices using servo motors, pneumatic actuators, and sensors. Raspberry Pi workshops are focused on teaching how to build hardware and software projects.
In this workshop students and professionals will learn how to create real time visualization tools such as 2D mobile applications and desktop PC computer games. Attendees will learn how to use Unreal Engine, Unity 3D and Touchdesinger software to plan and design Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality environments.
This workshop is focused on teaching Building Information Modeling (BIM) applications such as Revit, which is an intelligent 3D modeling software. Attendees will learn how to use Revit for efficient design, planning, construction, and management processes in architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) professionals.
Whether it is to train your employees or yourself, to utilize the latest technologies available in the world of design and fabrication, we offer professional training that will help you to improve productivity and speed up delivery. All of the topics mentioned above are available options and currently offered to all professionals.
Each semester, staff at the robotics lab offers a series of workshops available to all FIU students. These workshops include robotic fabrication, parametric design, and digital visualization workshops. In addition to the workshops offered on campus, we will be releasing the lectures onto our Learn page, which will be composed of free RDF lab tutorials on the topics mentioned.
We offer summer camps for middle and high school students focused on Robotics and Advanced Fabrication, Small Robotics, Digital Design, and Immersive Visualization, are offered at the lab. We offer a flexible time structure, meaning that camps can range from as little as a week to a summer-long period, depending on the client’s preference. Our goal is to expose young minds to the latest and upcoming technology, and to the opportunities that are offered in STEM fields.
