69 years ago today, May 9th, 1945, the Second World War ended

Every year I cry on this day. Not because I am sad, they are tears of happiness, tears of pride for my country and all the veterans of the Great Patriotic War. Tears of thanks to my grandmother and grandfather who won the Second World War for me to have a chance to live this life.

I am proud to be Russian, feeling a great power of the greatest nation of all ages inside me. My grandfather Sergey was one of the bravest men, he was awarded for his special courage and dedication during the War. My grandmother Susanna, at the age of 14, machined sleeves for shells and weapons for the needs of the Russian army, her twin brothers Victor and Valentin died during the Second World War as heroes defending their homeland and fighting for the freedom and peace of our country and our family, and peace of every single family on the planet. This patriotism is our national treasure.

I do not know any other country in the world who can share the same pride or understand the real meaning of peace and war.

I love all of my international friends, I wrote this not to look better than you guys, but just to think for a moment that all your problems are not really something you have to worry about.

The only thing you have to care in this world is to be with your beloved ones and never forget where you are from.

Always remember your parents who gave birth to you, and your grandparents who gave birth to both of them…

And every time you hear something bad in the news about “barbaric” Russia remember this post I wrote about Russian heroes, Soviet Union heroes, the greatest nation in history, who won the War against Nazi Army and gave you and the whole world the chance to live in peace now, a chance to breath, to eat, pray and love, to give birth to your kids and see the beautiful eyes of the person you love.

I will never see my grandma again, she passed away more than 10 years ago. I will never kiss her and she will never hug me again. But I will always love her, I will always thank her, I will remember her words and spirit of freedom and pride of being who I am.

Enjoy this Victory Day Parade on Red Square! Happy 9th of May!
