LA vs. Miami

1. THE WEATHER

LA is the clear winner in this category. Florida is called the Sunshine State but that isn’t even accurate. After living here for a couple months I have realized rain comes whenever it feels like it for however long it feels like. Also, humidity is quite possibly the reason that television was invented so people in Miami don’t have to go outside.

2. THE PEOPLE

On this one I have to say LA wins again. I am talking pure strangers in this category. I always say hello to people or at least smile back home in LA to people I don’t know. Here in Miami you are considered weird if you do that.. so I’ve learned to adapt and basically ignore everyone now.

3. THE DRIVING

Okay this is a lose lose on both ends. In LA, they have the best drivers around, but there is also the worst traffic around. In Miami, they have the worst drivers I have ever witnessed and this is the only reason there is any traffic.

4. THE COST OF LIVING

The cost of living as everyone knows is much higher in LA. So that is the benefit in Miami that I can get an apartment for much cheaper that meets my needs.

5. THE BEDTIME

This is a personal preference, however, I cannot believe how late people stay out in Miami. In LA bars will close around 2 and here in Miami around 5. Even meeting up for dinner ends up being much later than in LA.

After being here in Miami for a few months although the difference between the two cities seemed drastic, it is starting to become familiar to me. Luckily I have met some great people, had some great experiences, and look forward to Miami life!
