It typically takes a full-time student taking approximately 15 credits per semester for five years to complete the degree program (five-year track). For transfer students, it takes approximately 15 credits per semester three years (three-year track) and for accelerated program, it takes approximately 15 credits per semester two years (two-year track).

The following data was collected using institutional records such as FIU Analysis and Information management database (AIM); post-graduation employment data from the Florida Department of Education and alumni emails 6 months after 2018 class graduated (18 students).

STUDENT ATTRITION AND RETENTION:

  • 88% of students admitted in the Fall of 2017, returned in the fall of 2018, putting attrition at 12%.
  • 86% of students admitted to Fall of 2016, returned in the Fall of 2017, putting attrition to 14%
  • 73% of students admitted to Fall of 2015, returned in the Fall of 2016, putting attrition to 27%

Second year retention of students enrolled Fall of their admit year and re-enrolled in the Fall of the following academic year (All Interior Students within a cohort type)

  • 2017-18 Enrolled New Admits: 87.5%, with attrition at 12.5%.
  • 2016-17 Enrolled New Admits 80.0%, with attrition at 20.0%
  • 2015-16 Enrolled New Admits 75.0%, with attrition at 25.0%

TIME TO GRADUATION (AY):

Of the students graduating in 2017-18, on an average students graduated in 3.8 years

Of the students graduating in 2016-17, on an average students graduated in 3.05 years

Of the students graduating in 2015-16, on an average students graduated in 3.4 years

GRADUATION RATES FOR AAs:

For 2018-19 AY, data on the 2015-16 AA cohort is still being collected., the preliminary data shows the graduation rate at 25% grad, with 75% retention.

For the 2014-15 AA cohort, graduation rate was 43% with 86% retention

For the 2013-14 AA cohort, graduation rate was 67% with 100% retention

JOB PLACEMENT RATES: 

For 2012-13, among 11 graduating students, 72.7% of students are employed in interior design or a related profession

For 2013-14, among 11 graduating students, 57.9% of students are employed in interior design or a related profession.

For 2014-15, no data is available since less than 10 graduate students were employed.

For 2015-164, among 22 graduating students 68.2% of students who graduated are employed in interior design or a related profession.

For 2016-17, among 17 graduating students, 82.4% of students who graduated are employed in interior design or a related profession.

For 2017-18, among 18 graduating students, 90% of students who graduated are employed in interior design or a related profession.
