Our 15-piece big band, directed by Jim Hacker, will be sure to captivate you with the essence of new and well-known jazz classics by Stan Kenton, Thad Jones, Thelonius Monk, and more!

The members of the FIU Big Band are full-time graduate and undergraduate students, many of whom are currently working professionals with local, national, and international artists. A number of the featured soloists are past and present scholarship recipients from Downbeat, the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, the Gold Coast Jazz Society, and the International Trumpet Guild.
