FIU Music Series: FIU Jazzists & Argentinian Vocal Artist Roxana Amed

| FreeFIU Jazz faculty (Gary Campbell, sax; Michael Orta, piano; Tom Lippincott, guitar; Jamie Ousley, bass; Rodolfo Zuniga, drums; Lisanne Lyons, voice) will be performing an exciting evening of new and well-known jazz classics with Argentinian vocal artist Roxana Amed. Roxana Amed is a singer-songwriter who hails from Buenos Aires, Argentina, who is recognized by audiences and critics alike as one of the most amazing and soulful voices in Argentine music.
She has released six albums, LIMBO (2004, EMI/Sony Music), ENTREMUNDOS (2006, Sony Music), LA VOZ MÁS ALLÁ (DVD, 2009, Sony Music), CINEMATECA FINLANDESA, duo album with Adrián Iaies (2010, Acqua), INOCENCIA (2011, Acqua), LA SOMBRA DE SU SOMBRA, duo album with pianist composer FrankCarlberg (2013, Red Piano Records), specifically taking Argentine music, folk and rock, and marrying it to jazz language and sound, while paying tributes to Argentine authors.
Her albums, that received Gardel Awards and nominations, include collaborations of the most important popular musicians from Argentina as Pedro Aznar (ex Pat Metheny Group) with whom she produced her first two albums and shared projects over the years, Adrián Iaies (three times Latin Grammy Awards nominated, Director of Buenos Aires International Jazz Festival) with whom she released a duo album in 2010, Guillermo Klein (Los Guachos, argentine composer and big band arranger located in NY) with whom she work for her album Inocencia, among others.
